For Citigroup, diversity represents a competitive advantage in the global economy. Citigroup's emphasis on inclusion and innovation creates an environment where diversity is transformed from a key element of our business strategy into a competitive advantage for all of our businesses. The result has been an increase in the diversity of our clients and employees, as well as in the amount of business we conduct with minority-owned firms.

Citigroup launched 'Citigroup Difference' in 2002. It is our overall framework for action on diversity within the European Corporate and Investment Bank. Citigroup Difference is led by a Senior Diversity Committee with representation from all major business areas, and reflects our commitment to being an industry leader in Diversity. Within this framework, four employee network groups, help pioneer diversity initiatives, which include recruitment activities to internal networking and career development. The networks are: Citigroup Roots, Citigroup Women, Citigroup Pride and Citigroup Parents. We aim to create two more in the near future: Citigroup Age and Citigroup Abilities.

Citigroup Pride helps address workplace issues related to sexual orientation and make Citigroup the Employer of Choice - able to attract and retain the best and brightest professionals, regardless of their sexual orientation. The network group further aims to increase loyalty and productivity by creating a safe, equitable and supportive work environment, where all employees can make a full and meaningful contribution to corporate objectives. Citigroup Pride also works to foster an environment of inclusiveness and respect where gay and lesbian employees can feel open about their lives.

Citigroup Roots reaches out to racial, ethnic & cultural minority groups and promotes Citigroup as the Employer of Choice for existing and potential employees from these parts of the population. Citigroup Roots helps develop racial and ethnic diversity initiatives that promote inclusiveness and equal opportunity for all. The network group acts as a channel to encourage an understanding and appreciation of all racial, cultural, ethnic and religious values in the workplace.

Citigroup Women focuses on gender issues and on positioning Citigroup as the Employer of Choice for the best and brightest women. This is accomplished by working to ensure continuous commitment to gender equality in all company policies, by developing resources that empower professional women to be successful, and by promoting teamwork and networking in order to improve the sustainability of Citigroup as a whole.

Citigroup Parents is the newest of the four Network Groups, having been formed in March 2003. It aims to provide information and education about being a working parent, and about making it work. Furthermore, the network group provides guidance on how to balance the demands of parenthood and employment in order to ensure a sense of fulfilment in both personal and working lives. Presentations, fact sheets, networking events, and information sessions are some of the vehicles by which Citigroup Parents achieves this goal.
